The proposed residential apartment sits on the edge of a reserve overlooking the panoramic views of Sydney’s Harbour. The space adopts a sculptural approach, inspired by the uniqueness of abstract art. The design offers spaces that deliver visual and tactile experiences. By embodying unique design ideas and pushing traditional boundaries, the space transitions seamlessly between home and an art gallery.
A voided ceiling with curved white walls is contrasted with a custom brass light fixture. Glass ribbed doors rimmed by anodised black aluminium frames provide glimpses into the rest of the space, sparking curiosity and a desire to discover more.
Entering into the apartment, a bold natural timber staircase invites you into the space. By just standing in the centre of the room, the first floor can be viewed in its entirety thanks to the idea of open plan living. A raise in floor level invites guest into a ethereal seating area, with an eccentric fireplace wall presenting a playful touch to the space. The light tones and sophisticated nature of the space, working together with luxurious B&B Italia furniture, suggest an atmosphere of being together and appreciating company.
Brass and marble accents are echoed in the open kitchen space, accentuating the abstract nature of the joinery. A rounded island sits in the centre of the space creating an organic sense of motion and direction. An arch cut out from a wall frames a stunning dining room, with a custom marble table sitting on top of brass legs. The impressive backdrop of Sydney Harbour floods the room with beauty and warm sunlight, providing a dining space of complete pleasure.
Taking the staircase journey breaks the public and private essence of the space. The top level was designed around the basis of what a home should feel like. The space showcases a relaxed yet detailed living room, with custom joinery that holds a fire place and entertainment space. Beyond the only closed door in the space lies a luxurious master bedroom, with a custom ensuite and WIR incorporated within the layout. The bold and opulent tones are continued within the space, to assist in creating a sophisticated sleeping haven.
